Makeup & Hair Artist, Textured Hair Specialist
Folake Kassim is a Hair & Makeup Artist and Textured Hair Specialist working across film, television and commercial production. Her textured hair expertise was built through specialist training she actively sought out, including travelling to the US to train with American educators at a time when no equivalent provision existed in the UK. What she brought back became the foundation of her own teaching approach, developed and refined specifically for screen.
With an established background in textured hair education, Folake later trained in Hair, Makeup and Prosthetics at The Iver Makeup Academy to support her transition into film and television. She now returns to the Academy as a tutor while continuing to teach textured hair independently.
Her teaching explores the technical, cultural and historical foundations of textured hair alongside the practical demands of screen production. Built on hair science, on-set reality, and techniques that are safe for the delicate nature of textured hair. Her courses focus on improving the knowledge and confidence of emerging and established artists working with textured hair.
Alongside teaching, she continues to work as a practising artist, bringing current industry experience into the classroom.
