Greasepaint – What Happened After

Tuesday, January 3, 2017

As we get asked so often we thought we should clarify how The Iver Make-Up Academy came to be.  After the sad death of Greasepaint founder, Julia Cruttenden, Greasepaint unfortunately ceased trading after over 30 years in July 2015.

The tutors and staff at Greasepaint were all very influenced and inspired by Julia, whom some of them were taught by, and when Greasepaint announced they were going to close the tutors started to think about how they could safeguard this extremely treasured training pathway. Almost all the staff and tutors who worked at Greasepaint for many years are now part of The Iver Makeup Academy. Although it was not possible to carry on with the Greasepaint name, The Iver Makeup Academy took over the after care of all the Greasepaint graduates. Throughout the Media Industry our graduates are highly sought after.

With the enthusiasm and drive of Liz Tagg-Wooster (Greasepaint Principal and award winning Designer) and Tamsin Barbosa (Greasepaint tutor and award winning Make-Up Artist) and the long list of working makeup artists at IMA, The Iver Make-Up Academy was born in September 2015.

Continuing the Greasepaint ethos is very important to all of us here. We have improved course content and industry links to reflect the needs of today’s industry. Our affiliation with The National Film and Television School and BAC Accreditation are validation of our ongoing reputation for excellence.
