“IMA Graduates Bring Deadpool & Wolverine, Rings of Power & House of the Dragon to Life”
Being a Makeup and Hair Artist in the Film and TV industry is a blend of creativity, precision, and adaptability. MUAs transform actors into diverse characters, from historical figures to fantastical creatures, bringing stories to life with their skills. Collaboration is key. They work closely with directors, costume designers, and actors to ensure every character’s look fits the vision. This requires clear communication and a deep understanding of storytelling. The job is demanding, with early mornings and long hours. Each day involves setting up, applying makeup, and doing touch-ups to maintain continuity during filming. Staying current with trends and embracing new technologies is crucial, keeping their work fresh and innovative. It’s a challenging but incredibly rewarding career, vital to the magic of film and TV.
The last year has been a busy one for IMA Graduates, with releases such as Rings of Power, House of the Dragon and Deadpool & Wolverine, all of which our alumni and tutors were a part of.
“Rings of Power” is an epic fantasy series set in J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth during the Second Age. It explores the creation of the powerful rings, the rise of Sauron, the fall of Númenor, and the Last Alliance of Elves and Men. The series offers a richly detailed world and intricate storytelling, delving into the forces that shaped Middle-earth long before “The Lord of the Rings.”
“House of the Dragon” is a fantasy television series set in the world of George R.R. Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire.” A prequel to “Game of Thrones,” it chronicles the history of House Targaryen, focusing on the Targaryen civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons. The series delves into the power struggles, betrayals, and epic battles that defined the Targaryen dynasty, offering fans a deep dive into the history and lore of Westeros.
“Deadpool & Wolverine” is an action-packed film that brings together two of Marvel’s most iconic anti-heroes. Deadpool, known for his irreverent humour and regenerative healing, teams up with Wolverine, the gruff, adamantium-clawed mutant. Together, they face formidable foes and navigate a world of intense battles, witty banter, and unexpected twists. This dynamic duo combines Deadpool’s outrageous antics with Wolverine’s fierce intensity, delivering a thrilling and entertaining adventure for fans of both characters.
It was amazing to have so many IMA Graduates and Tutors working on these projects, as well as many more unreleased projects due to come out by the end of the year!
