Megan Hunter - Powell

My passion for makeup began in the 2020 pandemic, when I had the time to finally explore my creativity and interest in bodypainting art. Two years later, I applied to the Iver Academy to expand my skills and pursue a career in the art that I love. I have a background in theatre, doing backstage work for productions with a ballet school, and volunteering with an arts school and theatre society. I am eager to continue learning and immersing myself in my craft in the film, television and theatre industries.

Applause – NFTS / Makeup Artist
July 2023
Applying makeup and styling hair for three main actors, and performing checks on set throughout shooting. Briefs included daily looks, and SFX for bruising, heavy sweat and blood splatter.

This Time Next Year / Crowd Makeup Artist
Daily work (3 days), May 2023
Applying makeup and styling hair for supporting artists in crowd, and working on set to perform checks through the days filming. Briefs included evening glam makeup and hair, and every day looks. Assisting main team with checks on primary actors when needed.

Space Plug – NFTS / Makeup Artist
Daily work, May 2023
Applying makeup and styling hair for main actors, including a child actor, and performing checks on set throughout the day. Assisting the SFX artist and costume supervisor when needed.

The Night Watch / Iver Academy
1 week prep, 1 day shooting, April 2023
Planning and preparing for character hair and makeup, including script breakdown of scene, finding primary reference for period styles, and practice of the look. Shoot day included creating the look under time pressure for camera call time, and performing checks for both wide shots and closeups of artist.

Applying and colouring both an encapsulated silicone prosthetic, and probondo prosthetic, to create a “Glasgow Smile”. I designed, sculpted and moulded the prosthetics prior to the shoot.
