Halloween at IMA
The Iver Make-Up Academy is one of the leading training schools in the UK who have an excellent cohort of award-winning tutors that have worked on many fantastic films.
On the theme of Halloween and costume ideas, we wanted to share some iconic hair and makeup looks from films that some of our very own IMA tutors have worked on. As well as some Halloween makeup looks created by one of our Body-Art and Airbrushing tutors.
Dark Shadows (2012)
Dark Shadows is a Comedy and Horror film directed by Tim Burton who is known for his gothic film style and quirkiness. This film is a story about an imprisoned Vampire played by the brilliant Johnny Depp. It also starred many other actors such as Michelle Pfiefer, Helena Boham-Carter and Eva Green.
Many of our IMA Tutors worked on this film including Natalie Abedizah, Robb Crafer, Tamsin Barbosa, Paul Gooch, Joseph Koniak, Louise Luxton and our Principal Elizabeth Tagg-Wooster.

IT (2017)
IT: Chapter 1 is a horror film and adaptation of the Stephen King novel. It is directed by Andy Muschietti who got his inspiration from 1980s films. It is known for its iconic Clown character Pennywise played by Bill Skarsgard.

In this Prosthetic pieces were added to his cheeks, a foam latex head to make his face appear much fuller. He also had a nose tip, elongated teeth added and yellow eye contact lenses to portray a demonic look. Pennywise also shape shifts in the film in which they used FX Visual Effects for example in the scene where is mouth expands.
Suicide Squad (2016)
Another great film is Suicide Squad which has been the inspiration for many Halloween costume ideas. With iconic characters such as The Joker played by Jared Leto, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and Headshot played by Will Smith.
